Northern Essex proudly announces today that in April Speechapalooza is coming back better than ever.
The event is organized and hosted by the Principles of Public Relations class.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic Speechapalooza was attended by students who wanted to share their ideas to their friends and classmates in person through the power of making speeches.
However during the pandemic it became more difficult, and everyone had to have their classes online and making Speechapalooza move online as well.
It returned as an in-person event last year, hosted by Professor Kim Lyng’s Principles of Public Relations class.
Now four years later it makes a strong second year comeback.
This event prior to the pandemic was founded by Liberal Arts Dean Amy Callahan to make the students speak their mind and open their hearts.
Lyng then took over Callahan’s role as facilitator and continued to make it part of the class.
Lyng put out a statement saying “Speechapalooza is a great opportunity for the NECC community to have their voices heard and it’s wonderful chance for the students in the PR course to plan and promote a real-world public speaking event. So, it’s a win-win all around!”
Students are encouraged to participate in the activities of Speechapalooza and incentives for participating are included but not limited to eating pizza as well as wining prizes.
Speechapoloza will be held in Spurk Building’s Lecture Hall A. The date for the event is set for Thursday, April 25, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
