“We just decided to lock-in, have a talk, and I feel like our team has really come together by just working together and really bonding. I really think it was our energy tonight. I think that we had really high energy and kept it up the whole time,” Martin said in a postgame interview with the Observer. “I think that being positive all the time is a key component to winning,” she added.
Freshman Maria Rosario led the Knights with seven kills while hitting a perfect 1.000 kill percentage in the match. Freshman Noella Santos added seven service aces.
Head coach Yemayma Molina has coached the team to a 7-5 record.
“She talks to each individual player in private,” said sophomore Santa DeLeon. “She really motivates us and tells us what to do, and she really puts you in the mind set that you’re a good player, and that’s what we put on the court today.” DeLeon is leading the Knights in kills with 72 on the year.
The Knights next game is Thursday, Oct. 8, playing Massasoit Community College at the Sport and Fitness Center. Northern Essex last played the Warriors Thursday, Sept. 17, at Massasoit. The Knights won that game in a 3-0 set sweep.
