A successful Speechapalooza 2026, what’s next?

Uplifting the arts with free speech and free pizza was a huge success at Speechapalooza 2026, presented by NECC’s Public Relations class on April 23.

From poem readings, songs, reenactments of plays, slideshows, informative speeches and storytelling, this event shed light on all different mediums of art. “It was great,” said the host of the event.  “I’m delighted by the turnout of this, and even better that we ran at almost perfect time.”

Three prize winners were awarded at the end of the event, taking home gift cards and balloons that were used to decorate the lecture hall. With a strong opening song, the host positively carried the event along, introducing each speaker with their name, major, and their choice of art they presented.

The audience and speakers cheered on each other with smiling faces.  To uplift the arts is to let them be seen and heard – this is exactly what Speechapalooza does, and what it has done for the past eleven years.

Speechapalooza will continue on for many years to come.  This event is a celebration of all the different voices here at NECC.  Whether you want to let your art be seen, or want to cheer on others, there is no doubt that Speechapalooza will come around again.

You can even help plan the event!  In spring semesters, the Principles of Public Relations class is available to take.  Here in this class you will learn all about the history and purpose of public relations with Professor Mary Jo Shafer, and this is where you promote and plan Speechapalooza!!

For more information about this celebratory event, you can contact Professor Shafer at mshafer@necc.mass.edu.  We hope to catch you next year uplifting the arts!
